STAFF TRAVEL CHANGES ...

The following has found its way to us and does, of course, have to be verified... However, it would appear to be factual:-

'Anyone joining the airline will be able to start using staff travel on

BA from day one, rather than waiting six months. This includes basic

and premium standby tickets, as well as Hotline tickets

The expiry date on any unused 2021-2022 Annual Bookable Concessions

has been extended to 30 March 2099

From May 2022

Annual Bookable Concessions for 2022-2023 will have their expiry date

extended to 31 March 2099. All new concessions added from next year

will have a 2099 end date. You will be able to roll over any unused

ones, retaining up to six per year.

From June 2022

The Annual Bookable Concession that is awarded to eligible colleagues

after five years of service at BA will now be awarded after one year

From August 2022

We’re increasing your travel nominees from two to three

You will be able to change your nominees every three months, instead

of six - which you’ve told us will make a real difference to you.

From October 2022

Infants under the age of two will no longer take up a nominee slot."

I can see the rationale as it's a way of providing a recruitment

incentive in an environment where low wages are now the norm.

This is going to be of concern to people with existing travel

concessions as the competition for the available tickets will increase

and as retired staff, we're a bit lower down the priority order now.

Personally, I don't use my staff travel very much but it's likely to

leave more than a few upset if it's a genuine change.

There's obviously not a lot that can be done about this as BA is fond

of reminding us, it's a non-contractual benefit.... '
