Just heard from Bob Nipperess - originally from Bertie Woolsey - that Mike, much respected on just about every fleet at Heathrow in recent years, passed away very suddenly last evening.

...and this is Bob's update on the 20th:-

""It is with great sadness we advise of the untimely passing of our colleague, CSD Mike Smith on Wednesday, 18th December. Mike’s flying career started with BOAC and after a few years he switched to shorthaul - eventually flying on Concorde. Mike was a popular and well-respected colleague and we offer his family and friends our condolences, particularly at this time of the year. When details of Mike’s funeral are known we will post so that colleagues who wish to pay their respects may do so."
