COLLEAGUES LEAVING UNDER VR

•Registering as a former staff

If you're eligible for staff travel after you've left, you'll need to exchange your current ID pass for one for staff travel and update Peopleonline with your personal email address before you

go.

•2020 bonus concession

Colleagues who leave under redundancy or are subject to TUPE as part of the consultations on ‘preparing for a different future’, will retain this concession for one-time use and expires on 30 March 2023. Where colleagues remain in the business they will also have until 30 March 2023 to use it. All other colleagues who have left or leave the business for any other reason will not be eligible to retain this ticket.

•Nominees

As a former colleague, you can nominate one person plus your children under the age of 24. If you nominate a partner, civil partner, spouse, sibling or parent, they can travel unaccompanied on BA flights. If the person you nominate is described as a Travel Companion i.e. a grandchild, niece, friend, etc, they cannot travel unaccompanied on a BA flight and must travel with the staff member on all sectors. You may change your nominee on a rolling six-month basis as long as they’ve been nominated for a minimum of six months. You can do this via the ConcessionsOnline tab on the former colleague landing page.

•Accessing Staff Travel as a Former Employee

To access Staff Travel concessions as a former colleague, visit https://my.baplc.com. After your leaving date, as you do now, you will be asked to add your staff number and your BSAFE password. If you do experience any issues, contact the IT Service Centre on 020 856 24000. Please note: it takes at least 10 to 14 days for the various system updates to take place before you can access your staff travel for the first time as a former colleague.

•Recent Leaver - concessions

Former colleagues who have recently left may find that not all their concessions are showing on their staff travel record. Records are updated within a few weeks of leaving BA.

•Booking new flights for travel after leaving date

Any travel after you leave BA must be booked after you leave otherwise your priority code will be incorrect.

•New bookings

Once you have left, for any new bookings that you set up online, please make a note of the booking reference as the system does not always retain this information. If you have the booking reference, you can add it under Manage Bookings to view/manage your booking.

If you need to travel urgently and are waiting for the system to be updated, please email star@ba.com with all relevant travel details (Mon-Fri 8am-4pm).

•What am I eligible for in the first staff travel year after leaving?

The staff travel year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Any Annual Bookable Concessions (ABCs) taken in that staff travel year will be taken into account when you leave. For example:

A colleague has one ABC and one status concession as a current employee and leaves on 31 August after 17 years' service.

As a former employee the colleague is eligible for one ABC. After leaving, because the former colleague has already used their one ABC they have no further ABCs available for that staff travel year. One ABC will be available from the start of the following, and future, staff travel years whilst the former colleague remains eligible under the policy in place at the time. The colleague will not be eligible to the status concessions as status concessions cease on leaving.

  1. The colleague used their one status concession in May prior to leaving, but not their one ABC.

After leaving, because the former colleague has not used the one ABC they are eligible for, they will be able to use this as a former employee in the staff travel year in which they leave. Thereafter, one ABC will be available from the start of the following, and future, staff travel years whilst the former colleague remains eligible under the policy in place at the time. No further status concessions will be available as status concessions cease on leaving.

•What do I need to do to start booking rebate travel as a former employee?

After you’ve left, you’ll receive access to former staff travel concessions once the systems have updated. This can take up to three weeks, so you shouldn’t plan to travel on your former

  2. After leaving – you may need to wait 10 – 14 days before your access from serving to former staff changes. Contact the IT Service Centre on 020 8562 4000 if you have log in issues.

above.

  • Can I travel on other airlines?
