Making our way to Circular Quay after the night flight from Singapore or Bangkok for champagne, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on the quayside in full view of the commuters getting off the ferries to go to work!  Satisfying...for some reason!
------------------------------------------------------------
Time flies! It is now 30 years since the TriStar went to the RAFand now has done its last flight and will be scapped.  Goodbye to the L1011 and 216 Squadron  (see YouTube).

------------------------------------------------------------

Playing in a golf tournament last week in Portugal, was paired to play with a person named Robert Knight. When we met on the tee, he said I know you, I looked totally mystified and he then said, you used to be my boss. It turned out when i was an FD he was on my team. Well we had a great chat whilst playing, and caught up with we had been doing since retiring. Small world is it not.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walking down across the golf course for one of Glad's breakfasts.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Breakfast at the buffet bar in the terminal (didn't have it all laid on like BEA did!)...sausages that didn't have any obvious meat in them...but were they tasty...! And our Italian mates made sure we had as many as we wanted!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The all-day Sunshine Breakfast in Bahrain where the baked beans used to (hopefully) soak up all the previous day/night's alcohol...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walking up the hill behind the "Grotty Grosvenor" for afternoon tea served by Nicholas the "African Queen" in the late 60s...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Breakfast at the General and the Korvette dash afterwards owing to copious amounts of black coffee!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Borrowing and racing the rickshaws from the Hasty-Tasty to the Hyatt after a few beers and a fish and chip supper...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Breakfast at the D & D in downtown Anchorage

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Japanese Red Brigade:-
I remember sitting in the "prefab tudor pub" next to the hotel in TLV having arrived about an hour earlier from Teheran. When we started to see and hear blue lights and sirens of the ambulances taking the dead and dieing from the massacre in the arrivals hall. The terrorists had shot up the arrivals hall less than an hour after we had been in there waiting for our bags !! Sights, sounds and feelings I will never forget.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crew 'Cook-ins' in the Park Royal Motel in Melbourne - those Koolabahs of cheap Aussie wine still give me a hang-over just thinking of the amount we consumed!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hiring the Jardalinka (?) 36-foot ketch with crew from our handling agents, filling the fridge up with wine and beer ... lunch in the floating restaurants in Aberdeen Harbour ... then out into the South China sea for swimming and cocktails as the sun set.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick change at the Hotel Phoenicia and pub crawling down the GUT.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the black puddin' breakfast at The Grand, trying to work out how to get the fiver stuck to the bar ceiling with a drawing pin down ... (lovely story about how it got there as well!)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying to get past the Rest House reception to Virgins' Alley without being spotted ...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Learning to water-ski VERY quickly after learning that the 'season' carried on 'until someone gets bit ...'!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Getting the stall boy to chase the girls down Change Alley with vibrators after telling them they 'definitely want to buy one but they're a bit shy ...'

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The endless parties with Qantas in the bar where no-one was allowed to go to bed until the empties reached the ceiling ..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The mussels and chips plus beer comin' out yer ears at The Donkey

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drinking in the smallest pub (Irish) in Boston (The Littlest Bar) with MH

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using the Excelsior Merc. limos to drive us across the Peak to Aberdeen Harbour for dinner at the floating restaurants in Aberdeen ... being 'poled' out to them by little Chinese ladies on flat-bottomed boats ... then back in those midnight-blue Mercs to Kowloon to dance the night away at the Peninsula Hotel disco overlooking the harbour and underneath the flightpath of the Checkerboard.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Greasy Spoon in Athens ... food fights with Qantas and Caledonian ... and an end of useful consciousness afterwards at The Plaka ...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone remember Tina's in Nicosia? Always the same menu. Prawn cocktail, steak chips and Greek salad and a lemon tart desert. All served on her verandah. You were always greeted with a brandy sour which consisted of a quarter bottle of brandy per glass. Lucky the Hilton was only 200 yards away. Eventually she banned BA Tristar Crews as they use to book tables and never turn up.
